(a pink moon and) The Longest Night of the Year
A full lunar eclipse will be visible this evening during the longest night of the year. This will be the first time a lunar eclipse has fallen on the winter solstice since 1638!
Earth’s shadow will hit the moon at 1:32 a.m. and the moon will turn pink from 2:41 a.m. to 3:53 a.m. Forecast is clear and 24 degrees...enjoy.

Siren Islands: Li Galli
The most beautiful place I've been (to date) is the Amalfi Coast in Italy, specifically Capri and the archipelago of Li Galli. Li Galli are three tiny islands grouped together that consist of Gallo Lungo, La Castelluccia, and La Rotonda. Li Galli is one of the mythical locations of Odysseus's Sirens. In Greek Mythology Sirens were dangerous bird like OR mermaid seductresses who temped men near their islands so the men would shipwreck. In the Odyssey, Odysseus wanted to hear what the Sirens sounded like, so upon nearing the islands he instructed his men to plug their ears with beeswax and tie him to the mast. When he heard their song, he ordered the sailors to untie him but they refused. Post-Homeric scholars concluded that the Sirens were fated to die if someone heard their singing and escaped, and that after Odysseus passed they therefore threw themselves into the water and disappeared.
Il Gallo Lungo is the biggest island and it is the only one to have been inhabited since Roman times. In 1924 the American choreographer Leonide Massine had a majestic villa built on the ruins. The Architect Le Corbusier later made changes to the residence and it's currently owned and used as a weekend home by my wonderful friend Giovanni.

Three of my favorite things: The Beach, Interior Design and Perfume! This is almost too much for me to handle. I need to go now!

Nude as Muse
The ultimate MUSE? A nude. Of course.
A supposed highlight (I wasn't there) at Miami Art Basel this year was "The Nude as Muse" event conceived by Brooke Geahan. Vanessa Beecroft's performance piece put 14 nude women in the pool at The Standard. "Miami is a sexy hot town, where a lot of skin gets shown," said Geahan, "but no one has ever done an event here that focused on the nude, which is the ultimate muse for art."

On the Hunt
I've been looking at vintage design books. I like these two: Carlo Mollino Architecture as Autobiography and Houses Architects Live In by Barbara Plumb.

Starstruck
"Two artists who need no introduction, because they are already sleeping together" is how painter John Currin and his wife/muse Rachel Feinstein were introduced at Rob Pruitt's Art Awards last night (the Oscars for the art world.) I'm a little obsessed with these two.

Lips
Katy Perry's Bazaar cover reminds me of Marilyn Minter's paintings (yes it's a painting!) from Salon 94.
