scavenging at a friend's house...
I found this herman miller sweet corn poster designed by stephen frykholm and philip mitchell for herman miller’s picnic in the summer of 1970.
Also a poster from the Whitney show of Calder's Circus
Thanks to Rick and Kate Treitman for letting me snoop.

Surf's Up
If you have not been able to make it to the beach this summer there is a quick fix: visit the recently opened coffee shop/surf shop/hang out patio of Saturday Surf NYC on Crosby street. The vibe is great and people are friendly. I left my last visit with a good supply of Zinka sunblock!
Best Friends
I think I'm going through a pink thing. These awesome updated "friendship bracelets" caught my eye on Vogue.

Barefoot Sri Lanka
Kate just returned from Sri Lanka with armfuls of pillow covers (for me) and sarongs (for her.)
Barefoot Sri Lanka is known for their colorful hand-dyed and hand woven fabrics.
The proprietress Barbara Sansoni bases her designs on the vibrant landscape, colors and sea life of Sri Lanka.

Check out Geoffrey Bawa's "Tropical Modernism" style of architecture. Another famous Sri Laanken; Michael Ondaatje. My favorite poem: 7 OR 8 THINGS I KNOW ABOUT HER - A STOLEN BIOGRAPHY.
Listening In
Overhear her in the bathroom, talking to a bug: 'I don't want you on me, honey.' 8 a.m.

Back to the Florals
I've still haven't gotten over Balenciaga's 2008 florals. I loooooove them.
These fabrics from Clarence House reminded me just how much, and that I want to put them on a modern chair. Now!

New Press
September County Living Magazine My Dresser |
I used a white on white palm tree fabric on top of my dresser. I initially had the idea to protect the lacquer, but now I just like the way it looks. The paintings are vintage from Pepi (on the left) and John Brown (on the wall.) BLOCK by Chromatics divided serving bowl as a jewelry tray and vintage Eiffel Tower vase from the Port de Clignancourt flea market in Paris.

I visited the Country Living offices today and was reminded of a long forgotten (at A+L, at least) design tradition: FLORALS!
I dug around a little and came across Sanderson's new/vintage collection. I love....

INDIA
My friend Kate Treitman is in India for the summer so I was excited to receive the above postcard this morning. Alas, it was not from her, but it's still a beautiful shot. It's from the Throckmorton Fine Art Gallery. The exhibit is called INDIA, A Pilgrimage by Marilyn Bridges. Anyways, hi Kate!
