Virginia Architecture
I'm in Charlottesville/Madison County for the weekend. While Thomas Jefferson's SERPENTINE walls at the University of Virginia maintain a top spot on my list of favorites, the below photo depicts my favorite kind of Virginia (and country) architecture.

MoMA Exhibit
You should not miss:
Compass in Hand: Selections from The Judith Rothschild Foundation Contemporary Drawings Collection
at MoMA. It was curated by our friend Christian Rattenmeyer and it is truly amazing. "The exhibition brings together historical works by Lee Bontecou and Joseph Beuys; Minimalist and Conceptual works by Donald Judd and Hanne Darboven; detailed narrative drawings by Elizabeth Peyton and John Currin; collages by Amelie von Wulffen, Mona Hatoum, Lucy McKenzie and Paulina Olowska; and large-scale installations by Nate Lowman and Ján Mancuska, to name just a few. In its exploration of diverse artistic tendencies at the turn of the twenty-first century, this exhibition proudly celebrates the panoramic state of drawing today."Alighiero e Boetti (a favorite piece)

Chelsea Loft (Updated)
Below are some updated images of the recently completed Loft in Chelsea. The round chairs were owned by the client and we upholstered them in teddy bear fabric. They came out looking like polar bear paws. The kids love them and so do we.

Pritzker Prize 2009
The well deserved honor went to swiss architect Peter Zumthor. This project is the Field Chapel to St. Nikolaus von der Flüe, completed in 2007, in Mechernich, Germany. It was hard to choose one project of his to feature since they are all really amazing.

Cat Power: A Good Woman
by Elizabeth Goodman (Crown)
Talented, if tortured, singer-songwriter Chan Marshall, performing as Cat Power, famously broke down during a Bowery Ballroom performance one cold January night in 1999. Goodman, a Blender editor, goes behind the breakdown and all the way back to Marshall's Southern childhood for some insight.
