A mantlepiece, a canary and a chair.
Coming soon to our website: Lower Fifth One Bedroom.

People we love.
With today's New York Times article India Modern Redux (Home Section) and all of the recent attention on "Slumdog Millionaire," I thought I'd post a photo our friend Chris Kattan sent us from Mumbai. Chris is there working on a series for IFC called Bollywood Hero.
I love the dog sleeping under the auto rickshaw and the the customized splash guards.
From IFC:
Kattan plays himself in this otherwise fictional comedy. He is tired of being rejected as leading-man material in Hollywood and subsequently burns his professional bridges in L.A. and ventures to India in search of a starring role in a Bollywood film.

is one of 48 glaciers fed by the Southern Patagonian Ice Field located
in the Andes system shared with Chile. This ice field is the world's third
largest reserve of fresh water...was named after the explorer

At the flea.
I found these (large) oil paintings at the flea market on west 25th street. The price was listed at $1800 each, but I have a feeling they'd take less. Way less. They are by comic book artist Dennis Neville. Self portraits. Old and young.

Patagonia

('The name Patagonia comes from the word patagón used
by Magellan to describe the native people whom his expedition
thought to be giants. It is now believed the Patagons were

Dominoooooooooooooo.
We were chosen to be published in Domino's April issue as one of the TEN TO WATCH for '09. A few weeks after the photo shoot in Reinaldo's apartment, the magazine folded.
We were bummed....but managed to salvage two Polaroids from the garbage. Reinaldo's wastebasket: bin-bin by john brauer

If you live in New York:
Go see the Garth Weiser show at Casey Kaplan Gallery:
Since 2005, Weiser's practice has involved an intense exploration of medium, color, and space through a masterful application of contemporary mark making. In this exhibition, Weiser moves further toward geometric abstraction from the figural representation of a head and torso that underlie the structure of the paintings in his first exhibition at the gallery in October of 2007. Layers upon layers are applied, areas are taped off, and paint becomes textured by airbrush, splatter, wax paper, and heavily combed surfaces through the use of brush and putty knife. The texture is further contrasted by varying methods of paint including acrylic, gouache, tempera, and graphite. In Weiser’s abstractions, Western devices are implied with the consistent use of a horizon line. Luminous circles evoke eyes, as they are transformed into gray and brown scale color wheels, oceanic whirls, pentagons, and stars.
